| Eravikulam National Park |

Eravikulam National Park is situated in the Idukki district of Kerala. Located in the Devikulam taluk, Eravikulam National Park was created as a wildlife sanctuary in 1975. Home to a significant population of endangered Nilgiri Tahr, a mountain goat found in South India, Eravikulam was declared a National Park in 1978.

Kerala is home to many popular National Parks of India.Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the National Parks in Kerala spread over an area of 285 sq. kilometers. The Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is laid with serene vegetation in a valley between the Annamalai ranges of Tamil Nadu and the Nelliampathy ranges of Kerala.

| Periyar National Park |

Periyar National Park, in Kerala, India, is one of the best wildlife sanctuaries in India, which you can see when you travel with Kerala Backwater. Situated at Thekkady in the Idukki district of Kerala, Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is situated around the artificially created Periyar Lake.
In 1895 a dam was constructed across the Ullaperiyar River. The resultant lake and its surrounding forest area were abundant in wildlife, leading to the creating of a hunting reserve for the Maharaja of Travancore.

Situated on an area of 777 square kilometers in the Cardamom hills region of the Western Ghats the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the largest and most frequented wildlife reserves in India. 350 square kilometers area forming the core region was declared as a National Park in 1982. In 1895 a dam was built across Periyar River to provide irrigation facilities in Tamil Nadu.
It is visited by the wildlife enthusiasts with a view to spotting tigers and leopards. But sightings of these animals are all but assured.... |

Silent Valley National Park is situated in the Palakkad district of Kerala. Silent Valley in Kerala is considered India's last area of tropical evergreen rain forest and is a precious biodiversity resource, which you can visit on tours with Kerala Backwater. Threatened by the construction of a dam across the Kunti River, which flows out of Silent Valley National Park, during the 1970's, Silent Valley was rescued as a result of an agitation by environmentalists and conservationists in Kerala.

The Silent Valley National Park has an area of 90 sq km is located in the north eastern corner of the district. It rises abruptly to the Nilgiri Plateau in the north and overlooks the plains of Mannarkkad in the south.
